(Here's a re-post of a saudade-atmospheric kind of song that is very emotional with feelings both of being blessed by summer's sights, but tinged with a feeling of sadness in that often summer reaches a climatic point and then slowly begins to ride off with the sunset for the year.)

Golden Fold
By: Noah Eaton
9/3/06

Fields of lavender,
burn in a wilderness of amethyst,
slabs of rock submerged,
in a babbling brook,
tinged with a soda-bottle green glint,
Virginia bluebells chime,
like Pavlov’s bells,
importuning politely,
the clairvoyance of summer’s desire…
.
.
Alone at pre-dusk with the constellations,
shipwrecked among bottle rockets of emerald,
hummingbird feeders sway like silver bells,
with a sentimentality uncontrolled,
calumets join the castanets,
as the summer sun brushes young flesh,
like wildfire…
.
.
Some say summer is only a dream,
but I know it feels most real,
when it bows out taking hold…
.
.
…inundating me in a feeling of saudade,
watching the breaking waves curl,
as the weaning sun caresses them,
in a golden fold…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Snow-capped mountains surround me where I walk,
frosted like dearly beloved’s wedding cakes,
never could imagine eight months of the year,
or the accent of the eastern yellow wagtail,
and her troupe of magnolia warblers,
setting the mood right there by my side…
.
.
I’ve found it can take years for any believer,
to adopt the pace of nature,
when the Gospel comes at varying volumes,
patience could be difficult to discern,
when you know you may miss this season,
like a summer love that gradually subsides…
.
.
Some say summer is only a dream,
but I know it feels most real,
when it bows out taking hold…
.
.
…inundating me in a feeling of saudade,
watching the breaking waves curl,
as the weaning sun caresses them,
in a golden fold…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I heard a fallen leaf cartwheel down the street,
walking back home from the West Hills,
the chartreuse of the morning was so pungent,
like brazen saffron fields of Seville,
hoping for me to stop and listen,
where they play their soft, emotional refrain…
.
.
Some say summer is only a dream,
but I know it feels most real,
when it bows out taking hold…
.
.
…inundating me in a feeling of saudade,
watching the breaking waves curl,
as the weaning sun caresses them,
in a golden fold…
.
.
…some say summer is only a dream,
but I know it feels most real,
when it bows out taking hold…
.
.
…inundating me in a feeling of saudade,
watching the breaking waves curl,
as the weaning sun caresses them,
in a golden fold…
.
.
…some say summer is only a dream,
but I know it feels most real,
when it bows out taking hold…
