The Little Things in Life
Itís the little things in life that counts
Like the clasp of an old mateís hand,
Encouraging words when pressure mounts,
The thought that someone understands.
A word of praise when we kick a goal,
A cool hand laid on a troubled brow,
A strangerís smile that lights our soul
And our dayís sunshine help endow.
A small request without demand
Can help ease the strains of life,
By one who knows, a guiding hand
Can help keep us free from strife.
A friend to share a heavy load
Or to help lift the feel of gloom,
Of sad things, help you to erode,
As dust and dirt before the broom.
Someone stops and lends a hand
To help you on to the winning post,
The acceptance of a golden band,
Itís the little things that mean the most.
The value of those little things,
If we treasure them with care,
Will to us all much pleasure bring
And with others may we share.
