you read my eyes early
and said there were demons
that made your foot wiggle
and your skin wear shivers

but you played the music
and took possession in the line
to be the last dance percussion
slow belly skinned to my anger

and now you read the mouths
of the whispering kind
that speak of the trail ways
of my tattoos on their memories

your second thoughts are lovely
but out of order in timing
afterthoughts always are it seems
when our purse if full of excuses

did you expect to find summer
under the walls of winter
a virgin satyr perhaps
untouched by even your dreams

when the proper shops her spend
at the haven of gypsies
does she devise their kind
to provide her with golden

when all they own is the wind?
