He plunged into everything,
head first.

Gathered, scattered,
piled and leveled.

He'd sink in his teeth,
for better or worse.

Shifting from
groomed
to disheveled.

She too, took on the earth,
head first.
Worked hard
to loosen it's hold.

She drained
men's strength
and was often cursed,
for leaving them feeling
so old.

Many weeds had grown,
where wild oats were
once sown.

She loosened the
vines that had bound him.

In time, she dug out
all the hard stones of doubt
and a softness began
to surround him.

They worked well together

and somewhere in time...

He was ready
and able
and moved

To tend to the dirt
that had filled her life.

All she had broken...
He smoothed.

Now, flowers grow plenty
in their Garden of Life.

Birds sing.
There's a blue
sky above.

Earth yields easily
Days hold less strife,

since the rake and the hoe
fell in love.

I like this, Larry.  It's always a process leading up to love but when a plan comes together ... the flowers grow!  May the rake and the hoe live happily ever after.
