Time Was

Time was
when you were the one I loved
Time was
when you were today and tomorrow
Time was
when we had only just begun, together
just the two of us-
we took our living as it came
without sleepless nights and fuss…
Time was
when we were in love, my heart in you hands:
our souls enclosed in our embraces
Time was
when we would daydream just what type of people we would be:
our thoughts were dreams because we were in love
Time was
when I couldn’t last a day without you
and the madness of the world were promises we couldn’t hear
each day, each night, was our time so dear…
Can’t I dream, and adore you, though we are so far apart?
Or is 'time was' just my illusion
living alone in my heart where
time was…

.

"the madness of the world were promises we couldn’t hear"

Whatever makes that happen is to be treasured.  Loved this, JL!  "Time was" is merely a foundation for time will be and "keep the faith" can apply to so many things.

"Can’t I dream, and adore you, though we are so far apart?" ~ but of course! lol

May the time that was, become your time that is and will be again.

Wistful, yet very sweet write.

JL, I think anyone who has ever been in love can truely relate to this poem -- even those few lucky enough to still have that kind of relationship.  Heartfelt.   ....jo

Your "Time was" speaks very eloquently of those moments when time actually is not perceived, when we truly live we are unaware of the passing of time.
Believe me, even in distance, we can share quality "time".
Very intense write!

Love,

very sad....the way things were at one time, to be changed now....go give your love to someone and care deeply, to now have times change....

sometimes life is cruel...JL, and I'm sendin a hug your way....

There are always dreams... perhaps an only remaining recluse... but they can't take that away... unless you give it away.
