A step back. My wife said something about my white powdered footprint on the bathmat this morning and that brought this older piece to mind...thought I'd repost since she asked me to. From 2001................................. Talcum Talcum. Powder. I seem to get it all over the place. The tub, the floor, the vanity, and once in awhile, under my arms, between my legs. It seems to linger in the air, waiting for me to breathe; if only I could ionize it, spin around, toss it in the air, let it cover me everywhere. Then you wouldn’t get so upset, grumble and gripe about cleaning it up. I thought about doing it under the shower; powdering myself that is, but it still wouldn’t get where needed; besides, every once in a while, I see your footprint on the bathmat, shades of blue surrounded by a dusting of white, five and a half, I believe, a hundred and two, five feet and a stretch, brown, shoulder length, blue, soft and sweet, lingering on mine, silky soft, hot and fiery --- talcum, falling through the air, covering everything, coating the bathmat, waiting, waiting, for that trace of you. w. james beard, jr. © January 2001 [This message has been edited by jwesley (08-25-2007 11:06 PM).] |
