         “I’ll Close My Eyes”
          (Virelai Nouveau)

I’ll close my eyes and drift away in sleep,
before my burning tears will chance to weep
to dream of lovely times not long ago
with flowers and a love, both oh so sweet.
There, once again my heart will feel the flow
and hear the music’s magic with each beat.
I’ll close my eyes and drift away in sleep.

It was a precious feeling most elite
so filled with love and sharing o so deep.
The sweetest of contentment one could know.
It was those times I thought my soul complete,
when love flowed oh so freely to and fro.
And now I hold my heart and soul to keep
before my burning tears will chance to weep.

If in my dream world we should chance to meet,
I’ll smile and tell her I still love her so.
Before my burning tears will chance to weep
I’ll close my eyes and drift away in sleep.
