The Spark Of Original Persistence

When she's lonely and missing the connection
The arms that point her in the right direction
Her distractions aren't working against the cold
It's the absence of touch which freezes her soul.

The house echoes with her wistful thoughts
A maddening frustration she cannot block
The sense of tomorrow is the same as today
She's half here but mostly far away.

Time has no and too much meaning to forget
The terrors wake her in a panicky sweat
Her feet are souless and there's no salvation
Going straight to the place of no expectations.

Days come and go on the merry-go-round she stands beside
Declining the requests, waiting for her space ride
She repeatedly holds her feelings at a distance
Yet she craves the spark of original persistence.

I can somehow relate to this persistence that you (sweetbomb) speak of. I have a certain persistence too that keeps me from doing things that should be done or could be done. Most of the time my persistence is called, procrastination. At other times it is called, living in a dream/fantasy world. Either persistence can be good or bad, depending on how one deals with it.

Thanks for sharing your poem. It read nicely and easy to follow along the thought-line.

"It's the absence of touch which freezes her soul."

A most memorable line that says much.

No one more persistent than me, ask around. lol. This is about how I wish there was someone who matched my ability to persist and someone who knew how to persist in the right way. I only ask for it all. lol. Thank you for the comments. D
