Of Butterflies and Such

A graceful breeze dancer
glides guilelessly over bountiful bouquets,
artfully sipping nectar of delicate umbrels
dangling from a rainbow of influoresence
finely pampered by hired hands,
groomed to please the lazy gaze
of one spoiled by weekly manicures.
A porcelain papillon sits
on the fancy lady's window ledge.
Madame Butterfly notwithstanding,
such pretties are for pansies.
Real butterflies are free
to sip wildflowers or weeds.

A frail old woman squats in sidewalk squalor
mere miles from gilded bedpans,
parting fallen butterfly wings,
while the passing fancy in silk under things
scrunches her designer nose,
disgusted at the pathetic sight.
Equally cocooned by the power of greed,
neither recognizes impending doom.

In the nearby ditch flutters
a brilliant orange Monarch
above wild poppies,
free to be.

"breeze dancer"
What a beautiful and descriptive phraze for these delicate delights. Perfect!

Great imagery, Kacy ... very much enjoyed the contrasts captured here.

Best wishes,
/Kit

another fine 'write' from a very talented poet!

[I cannot write effective "Prosetry" (Prosaic
poetry) or the 'direct Realism' as many of
these wonderful 'P.I.P.-land' authors do...
I stand in grand admiration of those who can...so
magnificently! (I am but a most humble 'philosophic
imager']

serious, sustained applause!!

"Real butterflies are free

And we all have that freedom!  Lovely write - much enjoyed!

simply superb!!

[just had to make a 2nd. comment on this one...
  something I RARELY do!]

fine 'social commentary' seamlessly woven with
impressionistic Nature-imagery into a powerfully
'important' and timely tapestry...

more extended applause!!

This beautiful poem made me feel sad. While reading it I realized that I don't see nearly as many butterflies as I used to.

Your eyes move in tandem with your heart, dear Kacy, and your pen delights the reader with the result of your in depth perceptions.

Beautiful!

I can't believe the way you filled my mind here, more then it can ever create on it's own, and you gave me such imagery. Heartfelt at that. Sauni

Depth, beauty, realism yet optimism, content, meaning and passion - you and your poetry have it all, dear Kacy!
