          America Lost

Standing near the omnipotent,
  surreal, triumvirate interface…
where ever-vanishing mountains
meet an endless sky and sprawling sea,
we seem just pallid parodies
of our own false shadows,
tonguing pointless words
so easily lost to the voiceless winds
that brush the cobweb-corridors
  of Deep-Time’s cellar…
while none of us really ‘matter’
in this land of rapt desires
and avaricious schemes,
(that once…was ‘America’)
where caring and kindness
are but suspect ‘dreams’!

And now if the voting populace would LISTEN and take ACTION, perhaps there might be a chance to turn things around; ~sigh~ though even the proverbial perpetual optimist must cringe at the reality of today's political-social landscape.

Bruce,

Good work here, however, America the beautiful has always been a land of “avaricious schemes” since the founding of the nation.  It’s built into our nature.

That’s why its alabaster towers are undimmed by human tears.

I really like the style you write poetry. There
is so much wisdom within your words.
