Swirling mists blanket
the sleepy Susquehanna,
as a steamy morning sunrise
lifts itself mere inches above the river,
like some mysterious hovercraft.
They travel in opposite directions,
the river flowing quietly southwest
along this short stretch of river-course,
as the mist flows silently
in a subdued northeasterly breeze.
This magical moment greets me
in morning‘s brief Gaia commune,
proof that chaos
is the essence
of Life.

living in Southern PA , I have seen "the Swirling mists blanket
the sleepy Susquehana,"

once I was heading towards Philadelphia because I had to take my dog to a specialist and the mist was so thick that when crossing a rising bridge I thought I was driving straight into heaven...kind of scary when I couldn't see anything but the mist.

I too have had the pleasure of seeing this beautiful mist that you speak of Kacy.  She is indeed all powerful though, and yes, beautiful as is, this write.  Thank you.

well described...the moment..the scene..

What a pleasure to remember this scene, and to see it again through your eyes.

Again, this author writes 'Prosetry' with Thoreauvian purity...as a true friend of Gaia!

Poet's Invitation...take a river walk with another poet, and you will most assuredly FEEL the vitality of Life, the energy of words!

I would rather recommend two poets take a 'walk' in a dazzlingly fine 'Agriglyph'...to touch the very soul of the 'Deep-Time' Universe!

Beautiful...there the mists are enveloping....

Loved this...so close to home....

Hugs and thank you

Well...don't know about mist, but I have seen heavy fog going upstream over the Mississipi under the Huey P. Long bridge - then I hooked a helluva catfish and the only beauty I saw was my line diving for the bottom . . .

Lovely write my friend.

still a most pleasant 'write' to reread again!

"Universalist"/"Complexity" Scientists know that throughout all of Nature
(through all Deep-Time) 'Order' spontaneously 'self-organizes' out of 'Chaos'
and eventually disintegrates back into it...all 'complex' systems (such
as any living thing) exist in a transient state of 'self-organized' criticality
(only as long as they can continue to process energy input from their
environment) on the very cusp of Chaos!

continuing applause!!

How very true, Kacy....chaos is the essence of earthly life.....and even chaos has its perfection.  I love your "observation" poems and now from a different part of this beautiful Gaia.  Much enjoyed.   ...jo

What a treat for me this Friday morning, to revisit a summer day river-mist moment.
Thank you each for strolling with me along the Susquehanna!

always a beauty to enjoy. Your poem brings out the nicest feelings of me. Beautful. I would love to see you and seconhanddreampoet write on the same topic. I can imagine that both will be beauties in grand scale and there is a difference between man's tune and lady's tune.

enjoy your poem as always.

Oh, Kacy, your poem makes me wish I could stay in Pip for ever and ever and ever and never have to leave for a moment to deal with the real world (as beautifully as it is portrayed here - and as beautiful and challenging as I find it anyway) - just stay here and read poetry like this and so many other of yours and other poets in Pip.

Tom - Kacy and Bruce have recently both written on November.  I said something vaguely similar as you did, in my reply to one of them.  You were right, Tom.
