When it came August
Blackbirds returned to sit in long lines
On wires stretched between poles as they waited
For the season again to turn and call to wing
The thousands they have become
In their gatherings here

Raucous cries split harmony into discord
To rattle the sunrise into bloodshot stare
That tries to hide behind
The clot of clouds left over
From an aborted attempt to rain

August does not suffer Her well
And I have given to the thoughts of her
Enough that she may find another bed
To lie in love with sky that owns her
As he holds her in a clench finger dream
Resembling the way it was when she
Was moved into the depths of crescendo release

Some thunder
Some storm of souls
Roiled into the center of a night
Spent in sleepless dreams

Pass the grains of sand through days
As once water trickled between
The cupped palms that tried to hold
The wet of her when she moaned along the edges
Of slow dawns

Still, the birds will leave
To fly where ever it is that blackbirds fly
When the earth turns again on axis
Letting the winds of colder days begin

August brings the dust
And settles it soft upon their wings

While I dream on stifling nights
Of her
And of Rain

an old one..... and it speaks to me today on some levels... though it is a simple thing..a string of words like the wires..
I perch on for a moment or two before the season changes...

thanks for your eyes kid...

My mouth is to full of sighs to even try to gush on about how great this is....so I'll just say that I enjoyed it greatly.
