Eight minutes away the shiver of fear
waits like a devil-kissed king
to decree a new manner of being
and order the pillage and burn
of the core of belief.

It’s preening, you see, and titivating
and polishing wiles till they shine
for an out of this world creation
of a fear based lineage.

From shoulders a cape the colour of gloom
drapes well to the floor of psychosis
and his head bears the crown of suffering
bedecked with the jewels of misery.

So adorned he prepares to preach to fools
while minions clear paths to a heart
with love’s vestiges fuel for a fire
and empathy fodder for pigs.

Eight minutes away; let nobody say
there never is time to decide;
bow to the king or reconnoiter
love’s worth to the spirit within.

No need to catch or feed the fear
but forever to stay
eight minutes away!

Whoa, Helen!  Sounds like you have been reading our newspapers.  The world is in perilous times....but the worst thing that could happen is that we all surrender to our own fears....you are absolutely right!   ....jo

Wasn't sure what it would be when I saw the title, might still not be sure after reading it.  Even with that said, its good.  Like the prevous poster said looks like our newspapers.  Enjoyed, but don't be so scary.

"...let nobody say
there never is time to decide..."

One of the few basic truths of life.

Well done.

Thank you all for your comments.  Much appreciated and, Jo, yes, the world is in a sad state and the world, of course, is made up of individuals perhaps procreating this present state by the power of mind that flows so strongly along a misdirected line.

DennisTheM - sorry, but maybe the scary bit results in a wake up call and that can only be good.

icebox - to know a truth is not necessarily going to change anything "out there" but there's definitely no hope if the thought isn't floating around out there somewhere.  Let good and positive thoughts unite to change the world!
