Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

Sweet Solveig Elin

Purple strands of color
Turning letters into words
Mind reviewing every picture
A song in each word heard

Dark light fills my window
Casting shadows on the screen
A void grows in my lonely heart
Eyes look to where you’ve been

Simple poems of longing
Reflecting deep,  hidden fears
Entreaty drifting with the stars
Hope ringing loud and clear

It’s as if time stands still
The sweet night song has no tune
My eyes drift to that empty place
Warm light has dimmed to gloom

But hope springs eternal
I tap into what I know
Behind the black the sun still shines
It’s not your time to go

So, sweet Solveig Elin,
Hurry back to those who care
Lift your face to feel the sunshine
Ride on the summer air

Kisses drift to your cheeks
You will never be alone
Hurry back to those who love you
Our strength will keep you strong

Sweet Solveig Elin
You are the beauty in our day.

Alison

a pleasant ‘write’!

I am particularly fond of:

“Lift your face to feel the sunshine
Ride on the summer air”

AND:

“Simple poems of longing
Reflecting deep,  hidden fears
Entreaty drifting with the stars
Hope ringing loud and clear”

Applause!

Thank you all - your replies touch me.

This poem was for my friend who had brain surgury last Friday.  She is coming along well in terms of recovery - I wanted you to meet her.

ah...thank you Alison.

I confess I couldn't conceive the specifics, but your love and care came through with the quiet urgency of a prayer.

Thanks for the poem and the explanation. (Sometimes I need an explanation.)

May your friend recover quickly.

Alison, I didn't know the circumstances behind this but I could see the love you and caring that you have for this person.

Thank you for allowing us to know them, through your words.  Hugs to you and well wishes and prayers to her.

What a heartfelt poem Alison, I really enjoyed reading this.

"Well I wish that you would cheat with someone, 'cause you're like diggin' holes in water and we know that can't be done."

Ed,

Thank you.
You made me smile after a very long day
travelling to a very ugly town.
