Thoughts on a Friday Afternoon

There you are hiding behind words,
breaths a bit stale as you feed the same,
hoping it can still "tame a restless heart".

How can you compromise with love
when blinded by the moments
of eyes wanting the same,
but lips wanting more?

Still, words replacing the emptiness,
while eyes read into the soul,
with the pounding louder than yesterday
but memory holding desire back.

This is for you, and you, and you
who believe in the lyrics of life,
holding onto forever thoughts
and tomorrow's gifts.

M

"Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less."

Yes M, I believe.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I especially LOVE the ending to this fine 'write'!:

"This is for you...
who believe in the lyrics of life,
holding onto forever thoughts
and tomorrow's gifts(!)"

Applause!!

miscellanea, thank you...my life is pretty average if you can take the "soap opera' part out of it

iliana, well I saw  a title somewhere that stuck in my mind... and was the basis for the poem.  The heat makes it tough to be inspired lately. Thank you.

JamesM, thanks

SEA and Hope so nice to see you here and what is there to look forward to without "hope"?

Hi M, I thought this was a wonderful piece, that we here can all relate to, hiding behind the words, confiding in the words, our wishes, our hopes, our dreams are shared with a community of pen friends, pictures shown, much unknown but together we get by and share our ponderings and thoughts on life, I enjoyed yours my friend very much, thanks for sharing.

ma'am... I often think how stale I am when i read my words.... and how my thoughts seem to go around and around upon the same themes.....

so I plead no contest to the charges...

Well said, Maureen.  If we don't hold on to the thoughts, there's no chance of "tomorrow's gifts".  Tomorrow, of course, IS the gift.

oh wow M, I love this. One of your best ever I do believe.  The closing lines are perfection.  And? It reminds me (for some reason that I haven't pinned down yet) of that song from rent "measure your life in love"   Adored this one lady.
