Remember when you were young...
"Ma?
Y'gonna be like Syd?"
Shaking shoulders
an eclipse
of much too much too soon.

Dammit
not like this--not this---
this could be a bad thing, you
had better straighten up real tight.

I didn't mean that you'd be you -

I never meant that I'd be me --

down

a sunset avenue

dancing with the furries

freak

fuzzy

was

reality...

"yer not gonna be like Syd..."

My momma never was like this--

(Momma never was at all.)

God, my son is hairy beast

and he plucks a mean guitar

jousting Jackson here

at me,

"Sister, Sister"

screaming "Ma"...

"watch me Mom, while I do this--."

and damned if he ain't talented

(being mine and all)

squabbling his fingers for

the justice

of the last fret's fall

trembling intensity

watching from

beneath his brow--

furrowed frowning curls

and tall

smiling now:

"you are not Syd."

Watch me, Ma,

while I do this...

I watch him

and I'm dizziness

crazy diamond

(I am Syd)

blazing eyes

a bad cut is

one sharp spark

of

promising

swimming

in the

dark

as his

finger

lingers lovingly

the note--again, again, again...

(As I swear I am not Syd.)

ah~
always an education and a pleasure to read you....

this is lyrical without being so... telling without revealing to much of what we do not know....

damn..... it is good to read again

"ten years have got behind you"..

You amaze me, Blaze.  I don't see a picture of your boy tho

Looking at one of your poems is like following your synapses - a journey that it completely othersensory, and swift and startling as a rollercoaster.

Just.. damn.
It's like when I read you, I can hear you in my head. And it all makes perfect sense, and you never miss a beat.

Yes he is!

Mine is similar...plays guitar, hairy (his hair is longer than mine), and he is my big, huge protector...

You did indeed do good... both in the son and the song (I couldn't help singing some of your words... silently, mind you... don't want to frighten my co-workers with my screech *G*)

Excellent!!!

Just one question. *G* Is there anything else BUT classic R&R??? Not for this gal! LOL

This is great K! I love love love it. The beginning of the poem is cooked to perfection.

"Well I wish that you would cheat with someone, 'cause you're like diggin' holes in water and we know that can't be done."

Ahh the witch cast another word spell, as perhaps few can do here (or elsewhere).
Another interesting read.

Kate? What's that song?

"These are the good old days"

I keep telling myself that as my boy cranks his ampstack to the point where my teeth rattle.

I'm glad that you could see without me posting a pic--he's sooooo private about that stuff.

Thanks all for sharing the love. Much appreciated.

this is just stupendously amazing i loved reading this over and over and over
i want it to stick in my head for a few days
from the very beginning I could hear Shine on you Crazy Diamond's exquisite masterpiece of music in the background
as your words came alive in the depths of my soul thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful gift of words
I just graduated this last year and I was lucky enough to go to a Pink Floyd concert while my mother was 7 months along at Arrowhead Stadium in '89 I truly do believe it had an impact on me seeing as how they are my favorite band of all time
LONG LIVE CLASSIC ROCK!!!
