Taut these strings that resound
The slow vibrations of thick wound wire
Move the air within chest
And I am reminded that of the night
You are my breath and fill my lungs
To expand these brittle ribs and the cage they form
As the resonance of melody as is moved within
Finds the scales of nocturnes
Played a slow quiet hum upon the sternum
Building upon itself the ache
Of you not being here to touch with chords
I might play upon the trebled sheets of you

Music all began within the voids
To fill in the space between the nothing that was
And the empty internal with something other
Than the hopeless dark screech of demons
As haunt us all within the metronome of hours
We call our own

Would that these fingers could bend upon the fret
That lies along your spine
The strings plucked in a
Marking of slow 4/4 time upon the verbs
Whispered by air that moves with bare brush
The coils undone to find revealed
A melody of vowels sung in soft O’s
Along the pearl of white keys depressed

I might find then within my bowels the trembling
Of low rumbled earth as it in a quake moved
A fissure beneath my feet as spread
To the bow strung in a fray of gut along long repeated passages
Some bed time stories are for adults
As are the notes coaxed from lips when
Music is played seductively upon the ends of
One finger down then two
The tonality changes with the writhe of tips
Pressed firmly against the neck
Vibrato begins impassioned with tenderness

Do not evade
Do not rescind
Nocturnal pages dog eared in memory

Ebony upon the short keyed notes begin
And I hold my breath
As I try again to hold the nocturne of you

Within

god...my breath catches in my throat whenever I read your Nocturnal Opus poems...it's like opening up a midnight landscape of breathtaking beauty and emotion...with these huge, stunningly exotic night-blooming flowers...

My friend... you do not play fair. *S* You should at least post a reminder for me to take a deep breath before I begin reading... for your words make me forget that little necessity.  *S*

Just when I think I've read your best... you prove again your boundless depths. This is magnificent!
