how many are stars?

how many are emboldened

             standing on the front porch
at 2 AM

          being actors--

      gyrating the day's missed

opportunities

saying what could have been said?

how many poets
       only thinking the words
to page

             leaving the hands
           to clasping regret?

how many
  minutes wasted
             worrying

about perception
                           of Self

to others?

                   the artists
               playing to the packed
house
     of alone
                           throwing kisses
                     to the applause

                            of rain

Sounds a little sad and alone.  Too often we miss opportunities because of misthinking what others are thinking of us. They may be doing the same. They may be in a sadder state than we are. It took me many years to learn this. I now try and be the first to say "hello" or send a smile. I have a habit of winking to just say, "Hi"

In a line at the grocery store or post office I will sometimes wink, before I even realized I did it. It is to say,"hi, we are in the same situation and have to  make the best of if". Usually I do it to women, but occasionally men too. I did it without thinking the other day to an elderly man who was buying a lotto ticket. I guess I was just sending him a bit of good luck. he was amused and said,"You winked at me. I will have to tell my wife" he was thrilled to have been given some attention.I told him it was just to wish him good luck and we got to talking. latearrival.

A pleasure to read you again sir.  Could not pick a fav line out of all of this but "leaving the hands to clasping regret"  is just pure perfection.  A stellar write indeed.

I just adore you...you are my one true thing, always.

Thank you baby, for today, and for yesterday, and for tomorrows...and for this poem, and being the voice of sanity.

I love you.

Bri, your voice speaks truth so clearly. Wish you'd whisper here more often.

Brian nice to see you on the blue pages again. Yes, we all wonder about miss opportunities and whether our voice will go unheard. I enjoyed the reflective quality of this piece. I hope all is well in your corner of the world
