Dark side of the Moon.

Last of the Summer Wine

His jasmine and her lilac
both danced a lovers’ tune
they lived the dream of hopefuls
in shadows of the moon.

Unlike the lovely flowers
that touch and smell and see
dreams are imagination
with things not meant to be

Like many star crossed lovers
with souls joined oh sublime
find their hopes all drift away
with the last of the summer wine

nice ‘write’!

I am particularly fond of  the images and lines:

“ liv(ing) the dream ….
in shadows of the moon”;

AND:

“…star crossed lovers…

find their hopes all drift away
with the last of the summer wine(!)”

applause!!

Garfield... Thank you for the read and response.

James... the beauty and the fleeting fragie nature make all bitter sweet.

GS... Milady, such kind words are most inspirational. Thank you.

Midnightsun... were it more than a sip, I would fill my cup. Thank you for your response.

A neat little ditty. I like it. Here's the problem: First stanza: should read hopefulness. Second stanza: lovely? you can do better than that! Third stanza: The last line is hopeless and needs to be reworked.

Milady Kate, Thank you for your kind words. The 'stains' or 'memories' are precious and  meant to linger for an eternity when all else has faded and dispiated in the wind. I would not want to wash the stains away... ever.

A brilliant title, drew me here to read many times.  Each, came away with me, in shimmer.
Nicely done.
