Once again, it seems
I am somehow wearing
the wrong dress for this dream,

a frail canary slip, shoulders,
in such a sheer-pink pitch,
invites murder into the parlor,
as mirrors go dark with regret,
un-corseted, I spill through the seams
of something so fragile,
and mourning

after morning I wake
from that wild darkness
and emerge from inside
your heavy shearling coat,
powder a black slur at the clavicle,
as my throat latches on air,
a broken clasp, pales
among the muddy mirabilis,

we’ve become myth to each other,
this tender conscription of hours
threaded silky occlusions,
crinoline fragments stitched in
rinds of ricepaper and drumlins,
and it’s nothing like destiny,

here’s a wasp thumb deep
in the heart of a pomegranate,
her flesh its own brimstone and poppied,
though we pull out of the impenetrable

the dirtiest bird wings,
bathe them in rosewater,
then plant them in each other’s bodies,
fly,

and why only on Thursdays,
my eyes night like the sky
on the sixth of November,
and my name becomes nothing
but a revision of origami lilies,

although having never known the dirt by feel,
yet, learn to root in wind.

I had one of those once...vintage eyelet too...

One day though, I just decided to go out the same way I came in--naked, kicking and screaming. Pain has no appropriate garb.

I'm captivated, as ever, by your use and choice of graphics--some days I'm a little too simple to understand the finer stitching of your subtleties, so it does help. My old gray mare is my old gray matter.

Alas.

~thank you for taking a peek at this, serenity~

I think everyone has had a dress like this at least once in their lifetime ~

i like to use graphics when I post on the poetry Boards...and I'm always on the look outfor the same little subtlties in the art work...that twist with the language in my poems.   I appreciate the time you take to go thru my murk

thanx again, serenity...

Rick ~

((thank you)) for the enthusiasm and encouragement...I am so pleased you are enjoying these~~

I try to wrap the core of my writing in layers that peel back to reveal something of color...and emotion...and leave it open to my reader's interpretation...not alot of people are drawn to the style...and traditional-minded poets are among my fiercest critics...some are of the opinion that it's not even poetry...but I'm glad my lunacy appeals to you

hugs~

Lady, your poetry always dances with a complexity of images and metaphors, and  tingles the tongue when read outloud.
Thank you for another delightful gift!
