A firefly within a jar,
A wondrous, fleeting light,
Shining brightly- like a star,
To guide you through the night.

A piece of heaven held in hand,
Amidst the astral sky,
No need to seek or understand;
To question or ask why.

Shining like an exiled flame,
Vigilant forsooth,
Life is but a fleeting game,
A testament to youth.

Even on a night so dark,
The inner fire burns,
Even in a world so stark,
A fervent heart still yearns.

Sanguinity in twilight,
A passion oft neglected,
Their fire castigates the night;
Their hopes always protected.

I could watch fireflies for hours and not get bored! Thanks for sharing this!

What she said, brought back memories ( thanks for that) of sitting on the back porch and watching the fireflies come out of the woods and dance in the back yard.  Make a little guy believe in magic.
