It is such a simple statement,
This green band around my wrist.
Yet there it shall remain,
For all the days you are gone.
I am one of little faith,
But for you I find myself praying,
That your mind and body are protected,
From physical harm, mental anguish.
No man was designed to go to war,
To see death, much less cause it,
But you are not quite a man,
Very much still just a boy.
The fear is in my heart,
Each and every time you deploy.
This time more so than in the past,
Because I know you be in convoys.
I know you fear has also grown
By those last words spoken
For unlike all those other times
This call you ended with "I love you Sis"

This is a touching piece that hits very close to home for me.

Wonderful writing of your concern...
Some years ago while my son was stationed in Germany he voluntered for a short tour in Albania...I can remember sharing my concerns with my waitress friend in Waikiki...
One of my coworkers son is in Iraq right now and sometimes he shares his concerns...
I'm hoping for the best...James
