To Live

"People can spend too much time in their heads.
Sometimes you just need to get out, if only to
remind yourself the World is much bigger than
what's going on inbetween your ears at the moment."
Sarah Mahoney, Contributing Editor Parents Magazine.

To live is to let go of your past.
That has already been lived.

To live is to be immersed in the now
while still having goals for the future.

If a relationship in your past failed,
don't be afraid to try again.
Love is not invalidated,
love is accumulative.

In everyday situations don't focus
on whats happening to you.
It is your response that
determines the outcome.

When someone you love passes away,
don't selfishly hold onto them.
To die is the only way to
release the soul to live.

"Change your thoughts and
you can change your World"
Robert Schuller,
Crystal Cathedral
Garden Grove, Ca.

Thank you ink and Marsha for the wonderful responses...
Ink, sorry if this seemed preachy.  I think this style is partially influenced by a book I read over a year ago that encouraged me to think differently about relationships.  The book is "If It Hurts, It Isn't Love" by Chuck Spezzano, Ph.D...On page 151 he writes "There is no such thing as a broken heart"...and I believe he is right in his belief that our reaction to a lost love will determine how much our heart is broken...or not broken...of course we will still feel pain and loss and so forth...but not the same as if we allow a full blown broken heart to carry us away to torture land...anyway its something to think about.
Marsha you are the sweetest woman...your personality is most desirable...thank you for your kind remarks...James

fine 'write' (and advice)!

I am particularly fond of:

"If a relationship in your past failed,
don't be afraid to try again.
Love is not invalidated,
love is accumulative.

In everyday situations don't focus
on whats happening to you.
It is your response that
determines the outcome."

[I feel however, that the ending quote was unnecessary
and diminishes the 'write' somewhat]

applause!!

I like the idea of love as "accumulative" ...

James,

this is the first time, I believe,
that I have read a poem of yours
that lives outside of the scope
of material...

and I am very pleased.

It has broadened my thoughts of you,
and that, Sir, is a very good thing.

Thank you.
