Midnight Summer's Test

I know those words don't often reach
through lips that miss the touch.
Sometimes the unknown rises up
blockading words of such.

It isn't easy taking hold
of feelings once in hide.
Yet there they are a taste away,
a kiss in want, denied.

I know the times have changed each day
leaving truth to rest
upon a distant memory,
a midnight summer's test.

It isn't easy pressing forth,
the bad along with good.
It's even stranger when the course
is often misunderstood.

I know those words don't often reach
where hearts can feel their "meant".
Sometimes the distance leaves behind
the warmth of their intent.

powerfully expressive!

These kind of 'tests' extend well beyond
'Midsummer nights', of course...

I am particularly fond of the ending!:

"I know those words don't often reach
where hearts can feel their 'meant'.
Sometimes the distance leaves behind
the warmth of their intent."

applause!!

Dixie, I knew you would understand

Bruce, Thank you, I kind of liked that verse too...because in long distance or even in short distance words can be misunderstood or seem to be "lacking".

Bronzeage, Thank you for  stopping by to read and respond.

ThisDiamond, nice to see you here today.
and thank you.

Thank You TomM.
