Alone

There’s a boy,
Alone, in a cave,
He hollers for help.
And the sound runs from wall to wall
Like house to house for a trick-or-treater on Halloween,
Pitch black is all he’s seen,
Like a bat.
Drip dropping from cave water is all he’s heard,
Like a homeless man in a train station bathroom with loose faucets.
Cold rugged rock and muddy dirt is all he’s felt,
And polluted water puddles is all he’s smelt,
This is the life for a boy alone.
No friends but the insects that crawl on the walls and through his hairs,
No sight of family except their death in his nightmares.

This cave is imaginary,
Dead family, symbolism,
The darkness is imaginary,
But the loneliness,
The depression,
The oppression…
As alive as the Devil,
In which case it’s everywhere.
