In a world sorely lacking
You were my wall
At times holding me up
Protecting me with your words of encouragement

I was younger
Not understanding how rare that strength

I relied on you more then I should have
As long as you were there it wasn’t going to be on my own
So you left, and I didn’t understand
Cursing the stagnate air in your wake

I’m older and see there was more
You were actually setting us both free
Of not being what either of us should have been
Do you miss me at all?

I didn’t stand when you left
As you thought I would
I ran and I fell
I changed everything, convincing myself it was better

Every now and then taking out the leather binder
Tracing your by line with finger
Wishing it gave me strength

I love the honesty of your writing, and
the strength I see in it Susan.  Nicely penned.

Hi Susan, this was a very touching poem my friend, left me feeling a little sad for both of you and for people who rely on the support of another’s strength. Enjoyed the purity of your words and the strength now in your heart. Have a wonderful day.

It is a hard thing to set love free.

Oh my goodness.  I know this, but I did not know it until I read this poem.

What insight I have gained.

Thank you!

"Cursing the stagnate air in your wake"

A fabulously discriptive line.

I enjoyed this revealing prime piece.

always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same

One of the hardest things to understand. *shaking my head*

Souls, even when closely connected, do not "own" one another--no more than your big toe "owns" your baby toe.

Sounds like you figured that out though.

sending you love, sweet Suze.

A most difficult lesson to learn.

Very nice, Susan - very real and honest.

*sigh*  Been there, you brought be back.

ah~

there are times the feel of lines..under fingers..under eyes.. do give strength..

but nothing forgives the failures of those we put faith in...

we've all I am sure felt abandonded at one time or the other..

nicely written ma'am.... and one even my simple mind understands..
