The thought of mind consumed by hours
The simple dreams were best
It’s fields were full of many flowers
But many years did test

The childish thoughts of yesterday
With age near disappear
The fairytales so far away
The cherished time of go and play
No longer hold me near

And others just the same as me
Passed fantasy and find
Live their life on looking back
On all that’s left behind

But though consumed we hold a thread
Through years all passing by
To time of once where we can tread
That slows us to what lies ahead
And that, our last goodbye

I am reminded that sometimes,
the best we can do with that thread
is to twine it into a rope,
hook it to a Red Radio Flyer,
and pull our good memories along...

and I like that imagery.

Here's to that thread, Rick!

Live their life on looking back
On all that’s left behind

Guilty as charged. *S* Sometimes in a state of wishing... sometimes in regret... but always making any forward progress risk a stumble. *S* I think my thread is a heavy rope! *S*

Beautiful write, my friend... I enjoyed! *S*

Rick, I think this is so beautiful.

I cleanch that thread between childhood and now -- and look to the future.  I know that thread will still be there, a bit more worn and thin, but in my hand.

Thank you.
