Living In Lies

I was thinking
if I was in a relationship
with a woman that meant
all the world to me
but she was
only playing around
and not sincere like me
wouldn't it be better
if she'd just go away
even though in my heart
I wanted her to stay.
Otherwise, her and I
would just be
living in lies.

"If you are willing to live in a lie
in what part of your heart
will truth find a place
to reside."

Your willingness to seek and face truth impresses me greatly... too often, we want so badly and love so fiercely we're willing to settle for that lie... just to have something... regardless of the real worth of that something. *sigh*

Excellent write!!

Thank you suthern for the nice response...
I have come to this place only after the woman I cared for walked away from me...and so I have no other choice but to accept the truth that I was living in a lie...
In the beginning I didn't want to live in a lie, or know that I was living in a lie.
She told me how much she loved me and cared for me...later I was so attached to her that I didn't want to lose her...alas when you are living in a lie the loss already occured...yet you still hold on hoping that the lie has some truth...James

the lie being told to the recipient is to them the truth...Love has the tendency to bend the truth to its benefit and pleasure...As hard as it is to do, taking control of the heart is what we have to learn...I still have not found that strength, and sadly, not sure if I want to...

I just got out of a relationship like this myself

and I am the guilty one...the one who wasn't serious

Thank you marcel and passing shadows for the wonderful responses...
marcel in my situation I so much wanted to be with this person that I was willing to take the risk to love her...hoping she was sincere...but her mouth spoke words that her heart couldn't support...
passing shadows you are not guilty...you determined that you weren't interested...and could not be sincere...and then you honestly followed your heart...which took you away from the relationship...that's how its supposed to work...James

Dreams... filled with hope and faith... are sometimes preferred over mundane reality. It is in the dawn that sheds light on truth that wakens us and makes us long for sleep... perchance to dream.

Thank you vandana and Moon Shadow for the wonderful responses...
An interesting note on this subject...I had emailed my sweetheart in Chicago, an earlier poem I had written with her in mind, called "Nothing But Myself", that I had written on 19 June and in Open 40, and she responded about a week ago with a text message and later a phone conversation that cleared lots of things up for us...James

Thanks for the nice response MGROVES...
I think with wisdom we learn the right time to end a relationship...for in the beginning no one knows how far their heart will go...but when the time comes and the heart is becoming attached...it time for truth and sincerity...if one just wants to play games and the other doesn't, they need the truth not lies to help them determine when to move on...James
