The edge of Reality
By Paul Wilson

If you don’t like what you see
turn away don’t pity me
There are no doors too unlock
labeled one two or three

My heart is open wide
accepting what is real
No cloak of darkness
to camouflage me in conceal

I walk the streets of regret
fighting my own temptation
Rain soaking me to the bone
as I search for salvation

Damn the booze and drugs I crave
bottles always empty, lines always too short
The man I use to be... fights everyday
trying his best to make a new start

Don’t leave your money lying around
for me to steal cause i’ll rob you blind
Don’t open up your heart to me
cause I’m not the caring kind

Turn your back on me I don’t care
this battle I fight is mine to fight alone
It was I who took the first step
over the boundary... into the unknown

The sky is raining blood of those
that failed to return to reality
I hope and pray that fate
doesn’t have the same plan for me

Tomorrow maybe the eyes of blindness
will open so that I might see
Until then... i’ll walk the gutter of life
living on the edge of reality

"Tomorrow maybe the eyes of blindness
will open so that I might see
Until then... i’ll walk the gutter of life
living on the edge of reality"

Paul:
This life is filled with trials and tribulations, mostly I believe, character test or challenges to motivate us towards rewards stored-up for us all.  Yep, we all make mistakes and fail at one thing or another, in my case more than most, but we have a life everlasting to look forward to; thus the word: HOPE.  There is not a man or woman alive who doesn’t deserve hell and damnation, except for the Grace of God.  We have His promise that if we believe in Him (that’s all, believe) we will be His.
------------------------------------------
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, this is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor.

JL...Thanks for reading. I appreciate your concern but this poem is purely fictional.
When I wrote it I was trying to see the world thru the eyes of a drug dependent person and the fight they go thru trying to get right and straighten up their lives.I assure you I am not a drug addict and my faith is as strong as it has ever been...Paul

Paul,
Glad to hear that.  Had me worried.
Still... a great write; very convincing.
