If you are planning on touching me,
there's something you should know-
use caution while approaching
and reach out very slow.

I'm worn and I have brittled with age,
my chest cracks when I stretch-
I've even heard the neighbors say
I'm a reclusive lonely wretch...

no, just not up for playing games
like hide-and-seek or fetch.

Stand back a bit so it's easy for me
to get a good look at your shoes,
because if you're a walkin' man,
I won't be fooled by ruse...

and you will not get the chance
to touch or feed my muse.

But if you are a kinder man
and have good intent to stay,
you will feel the warmth of me,
a fire on a winter's day...

and it may take you till December
because slowly is my way.

Dixie,
Hmmm... all kinds of pictures here. Well done too.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

You Old Dog.......

I tend to make a point of being careful when approaching any dogs.... But I do think if you dare to show fear they sense it and it puts them on edge....

After saying that... if I do approach a dog it's only to be nice

The best things are worth waiting for... and savored... very, very slowly. Nice write, Dixie.

So many great lines... I could copy over the entire poem! *S*

Slow can be very good... you don't run into nearly as many  brick walls when you're watching where you're going... and know where he's been. *S*

Great write!!

I'm slow to make decisions
I'm slow to speak my heart
I'm slow to seek my future
And slow to find my part

I wait too long for good things
I wait too long for love
I'm slow to sort my shortfalls
So pray to God above

I pretend that better's coming
With hope I greet each day
So with my friends I ponder
Cos slowly is my way

Dear Dixie, great to read your words my friend, very much enjoyed, thanks for the inspiration.
Take care and slowly goes.

.
ooxoo sis and if the neighbors only knew the truth of you they'd be on their knees begging for but a whisper of your time.

Never forget that the truest strength often comes in the most delicate forms.

"I dreamed of a butterfly under a winter moon and when I awoke found snow upon my wings"
