Where Pathways End

I, who was a child of the east
Once chanced to stand upon the western shore
And there were only ocean, waves and sky
To set my eyes upon, and nothing more

It was as though the earth came to an end
Where footpaths disappeared in tide washed sand
I’d traveled to the limits of my time
And to the outer fringes of the land

But no, say you, this lovely sun soaked beach
Is threshold to horizons of the west
And sunset skies are like a dawning hour
From which you will embark upon your quest

It seems a bit iniquitous a sin
That my pathways should end where yours begin

excellent 'write'!

particularly fine:

"...this lovely sun soaked beach
Is threshold to horizons of the west
And sunset skies are like a dawning hour
From which you will embark upon your quest

It seems a bit iniquitous a sin
That my pathways should end where yours begin"

serious applause!!

it is so good to see you posting here, and such a beautiful write...Liz, words penned that only a mother could know and feel....which is to me, the very gift of being woman....
