Goodbye to you

I can imagine your hurt
and believe me it's hurting me too
don't want to do this
but feel it is the only choice.
Silent battles emerge in my head
whenever I am with you,
my heart comes crashing to the ground
whenever I feel you near.
No-one can hurt me the way that you do
I guess it's because you captured my soul
and became my other half.
How when you move away
and distance yourself
it breaks a part of me
which I can never again put whole.
It pains me to see your anguish
the confusion that you must feel
but I see no way of simplifing
how you make me feel inside
and how I can love you one moment
yet hate you the next.
Only one thing I can do
yet it's killing me inside,
I have to turn my back on you
close the door to the devastation
that has been inflicted
and move on.
But one look over my shoulder
and the knowledge will be clear
your shadow will always haunt me
you're the soulmate that never was.
