Unlike Any Other Love

You are unlike any other love
They are like morning glories reaching for the sky
rushing to fill every space of light upon the arbor
You are like roots reaching for the nourishment of the earth

They are like red poppies splashing color
across sun soaked dessert plains
You are like a fragile spattering of blue lupine
that unexpectedly catches the subtle glow of a setting sun

They are like yellow wings that flutter in the summer sun
You remain unseen in the brush,
but the sound of your song
touches the deepest part of me

You are unlike any other love
They are the moon and stars of northern skies
and you tiptoe over their shadows
