This Twilight Hour
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As shadows were stealing across the scorched land,
hazy hills bade farewell to hot sun.
La Luna peeked out from behind smoky range,
as a cool, summer's eve had begun.

As waxing moon rose in a russet-pink sky,
waning day welcomed in cooling eve.
At this twilight hour of tranquility,
mountain breeze was refreshing reprieve.

A coyote was limned by luminous light,
~ standing still atop far, rocky ridge.
I raised my gaze ~ and to my utter amaze,
rose a heavenly, star-studded bridge.

A sweet, inner peace was pervading my soul,
~ Feet were rooted deep down in the sod.
With a mantle of stars arching over my head,
I was awed by the presence of God.

I love the images:

of a waxing moon in a russet-pink sky
(set against) a hot and hazy waning day

AND a:

“twilight…of tranquility”  replete with
a mountain breeze(‘s) refreshing reprieve”

applause!
