there was a butterfly
on the trail

I could not tell
if it was living
or dead

I placed
it on
my palm
and knew
that it
was dead

I let
it fall
back to
the trail
and its wings
fluttered
in a breeze
I could
not feel

there was a butterfly
on the trail

I could not tell
if it was living
or dead

You know the title had to pull me in...and I am glad it did, I enjoyed this 'soft scribe'...

Sometimes if we all sit still it's like we're dead...a butterfly's life is only one day long I've heard. Sad, because they are so beautiful. Enjoyed this very much.
