When I am weak
When weariness pleads
I accept defeat
And I feel incompetent,
Incomplete
Your love lets me lean
Lending me strength

When I hunger
When gnaw becomes ache
And I feel I will break
Before my next breath,
Your love’s a buffet
Inviting me to feast

When I thirst
When doubt drains me dry
And an oasis
Is beyond imagination,
Your love is a fountain
Restoring my life

When I despair
When wails fade to whimper
And darkness invades
Creating a tomb
Your love is a ladder
Leading into the light

Wow! Don't lose that guy. I think he's one of a kind. Lovely write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Oh, Belle, this incredibly romantic poem perfectly illustrates the depth of love that you have both given and received. ~ and deservedly so, my dear southern friend.

God bless you, Sweetie,

Linda

Gosh...isn't it just wonderful!!!  Love is like nothing else, and those inbetween have to remember that and that it does come again, just as many times as needed, if only we let it.

Enjoyed this...

This is exquisite Ruth!  The format is wonderful - I love how you carried the same style and type of phrasing through each verse, and yet, each held such a different significance. Loved this ... really well done!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Marge: Your friendship love has restored many a dessicated heart, too, dear friend. *S* Thank you!!

nakdthoughts: It's night and day... death and life. *S* Thank you so much!

James Michael: Thank you, thank you, thank you! *S* I appreciate that! *S*

Larry C: Definitely that... darn it! *S* The world could sure use more like him... and like you, my friend. *S* Thank you!!!

Seymour: Thank you so much, dear friend. *S*

iliana: It's been a while since I've been in here much. *S* Thank you for including me on your return... and for the hugs!!! *S*

LeeJ: It's good to be here. *S* Thank you so very much! *S*

EA: The giving is easy, the receiving... pure heaven... it's the KEEPING that eludes me. *G* Thank you very much!! *S*

dgvarner: Thank you so much... I'm glad you liked! *S*

1slick lady: To see your name on my work is truly an honor... thank you so much! *S*

jwesley: It's hard to keep that reminder in focus... but yes... it does come again... better than ever before. *S* Thank you so much! *S*

Kit: Thank you so much!!! *S* I can't help but laugh, though... at myself. *G* For it took Cpat and Ratleader some serious efforts to get me to consider something finished before it rhymed. You have them to thank (or curse) for me learning to leave lines alone! LOL

Lady: To the bone... and for a lifetime. *S* Thank you so very  much!!!

PS: Thank you, dear lady... I've missed you... missed being here. And as for still feeling this way... I understand. Some loves become part of us... it may be "over"... but it's never gone.

Yes,  it is a wonderful feeling when we have
another person to hold us, console us and
help us through our more difficult moments.

Is this the old tradition where women being the fairer sex always rely on the bloke...

I quite like the Stevie Nicks idea where it sort of works both ways ie

Is love so fragile...
And the heart so hollow
Shatter with words...
Impossible to follow
You're saying I'm fragile...i try not to be
I search only...for something I cant see

I have my own life...and I am stronger
Than you know
But I carry this feeling
When you walked into my house
That you wont be walking out the door
Still I carry this feeling
When you walked into my house
That you wont be walking out the door

Lovers forever...face to face
My city, your mountains
Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
I need you today
Give to me your leather...
Take from me...my lace

You in the moonlight
With your sleepy eyes
Could you ever love a man like me
And you were right
When I walked into your house
I knew Id never want to leave
Sometimes I'm a strong man
Sometimes cold and scared
And sometimes I cry
But that time I saw you
I knew with you to light my nights
Somehow Id get by
First time I saw you
I knew with you to light my nights
Somehow I would get by

Lovers forever...face to face
My city, your mountains
Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
I need you today
Give to me your leather
Take from me...my lace

Lovers forever...face to face
My city ,you mountains...stay with me stay
I need you to love me...i need you to stay
Give to me your leather
Take from me...my lace
Take from me...my lace
Take from me...my lace

Drauntz: Thank you so very much! *S*

JamesMichael: I appreciate each and every person who takes the time to read and respond... when someone comes back for another round, I am so honored... Thank you!

Magnus: Indeed it is, my friend... bleak are those days we must face all alone. *S* Thank you so very much!!

Fairplay: Absolutely not... neither one should have to be the strong one all the time. *S* If a relationship is that one-sided, it's not much of a relationship. *S* Hopefully, anyone that means that much to me would get as much from my love as he gives with his. *S* Thank you for reading!
