     The First Bright-Sting of Love

Beyond the ever-pressing, heartless world
and deep-surging music of the storm,
when a warm wind murmurs secrets
  to the setting sun
(within a fine-wooded dream)
of sunbeams and tree-shadows dancing
(in the lucent-light dripping from rainbows)
to merge with the forest’s velvety dusk
and the immense, painful silence that falls…
(filled with impetuous uncertainties
  and vague, attenuating fears)
one recalls…
the first bright-sting of Love
and the delicious, diffused melancholy
of all that we shall never reclaim
  nor truly ‘understand’!

beautiful poem and a very beautiful trying of a romantic poem, no, it is not romantic. It is reasoned.

beautiful truly.

Bruce, with so many exquisite images and fine phrases, it is difficult to highlight a favorite! But I am leaning towards warm murmuring winds, and those impetuous uncertainties!
BRAVO!

The last two lines are universal feelings so tightly pressed to  my heart. And I will never, no I will never understand.

great images

Secondhanddreampoet,

This is well written, and all that.  However, I can't quite come to grips with love stinging.

I used to keep bees when I lived in the country, and got stung a lot.  I never thought the bees were just showing me affection.

Oh yes...love surely stings and some never recover from its bite but others learn to realish the pain with the wonder and awe that is love. Another fine write from your pen

To all the wonderful 'P.I.P.-land' poets and readers
who commented on this 'write'...thank you so much!

one recalls…
the first bright-sting of Love
and the delicious, diffused melancholy
of all that we shall never reclaim
  nor truly ‘understand’!

And though we might not understand... there's magic in the recall... just as there is in those days of falling. *S* And so many times... it's that magic that gets us through the mundane. *S*

But, oh... that first realization! *S*

Beautiful work!!
