"Remember Me"
(An Elegy For Sarah)

Beloved, you have left me here to carry on alone
Without your loving touch to see me through.
“Remember me,” you uttered as you took your final breath
And I swore that was exactly what I’d do.

Regardless of the passing years, my guilt has weighed me down
Despite my faith in light, and love, and hope.
And days have come, Beloved, when I barely staggered on
For Time won’t heal my wounds or help me cope.

So now I beg, “Forgive me,” though the hour is far too late
And I hear your whispered voice from deep inside.
Your final words, Beloved, now ingrained within my mind:
“Remember me” you said, before you died.

"My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night; but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends--it gives a lovely light!"  -Edna St. Vincent Millay

Arius Miura de Galdri,

This is better work than we usually get here.  Don't be put of by people ignoring your work.  They are self-centered it seems, and are somewhat clannish.

Arius,

Ok this is the third piece I've read of yours and I'm sorry I've been away from the site for a while for the quality of your work is exceptional.

Welcome to the site, I've not been here for too long myself and it is nice to see another 'rhyming Poet' on the blue pages.
