Butterfly (part 1)

In you I see the butterfly
Whose beauty is unmatched
Although you’re fun to look at
You’re awful hard to catch
You’ll tease me to the limit
In your own seductive way
But if I try to hold you
You’ll have to fly away
It’s not that you’re cold-hearted
That’s just the way you’re made
You’re afraid that much too quickly
I’ll see your beauty fade
But one day you’ll grow weary
Of this game you have to play
And you know I’ll still love butterflies
When your heart will let you stay

Butterfly (part 2)

Capturing a butterfly
Is tougher than I thought
You show us all a callous side
That years of pain have brought
You’ve built a wall around your heart
And you know it’s safe inside
And as long as people let you
That’s where you’ll stay and hide
But your eyes show me a doorway
To the tenderness you guard
Been there, done that
So I’m praying really hard
That this time I’ll have sense enough
To lock the door and walk
But I need to know you understand
I ain’t no “Chicken-hawk”
We both have different fears
But just the same we’re scared to death
I think that you’re a right turn
You’re afraid that I’m a left

Butterfly (part 3)

I borrowed words born long a ago
To capture feelings born in me
I put them down on paper
So that you could clearly see
From the moment I first saw you
Up until this very day
Your presence moves my spirit
In a very special way
You fill my waking moments
You’re even there at night
You probably don’t feel the same
But then again you might
Experience tells me I should run
My heart tells me I can’t
It’s like wondering which seed to sow
Once you’ve grown the plant
It’s much too late to wonder
Which way the wind will blow
I don’t know where we’re headed
But I know I want to go

Bravissimo! A touchingly sweet metaphorical piece of writing! Well done and thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank You VERY much indeed!!!

Wow! Very impressive writing, all three but my favorite was the last one.  Nicely done, indeed!

You are quite talented with expression.
Wonderful flow and meter, to showcase some very deep feelings here.
Well done.
