Tied between two strings
how far can a heart stretch
before you start to feel it in your bones

I'll take the bits and pieces of myself
and shape them into a toy boat
to float across rivers and lakes
over horizons and sunsets
if the wind will be my love
I will have no destination
only water to sail

Please
do not let the water fill my lungs
with breath out of reach
let the light not leave my eyes
a spark to balance me
a spark to keep me

I need to burn
to keep the water at bay
I will not drown in my own fear
I will not drown alone
