Pink Box

We found sin on lace, dancing the jig
under pale letters in this old pink box.
We wrote them, whole hearted
waving to passion, as it sat comfortably on our back seat.
We taught lessons, sharing stories as
you forged your love at the end of each one;
I imagined reality tied neatly, with your sensual words,
never seeing the storm chase us from the south.
Carrying your heart next to mine, on silver wings
I granted flight to the destiny you so delicately picked.
These last days hold a heavy weight, bogging down
the life we once had.
Tonight I remember riddles placed on china,
asking of things that cannot be digested;
it was not a disguise. You played the role you were meant to;
cloaked in obsession, begging my existence to guide you
helping our desires catch fire.
“Marry me,” you whispered, “I will give you my soul”
Still I keep it, sheltered beneath these pale letters
in this old pink box.

Oh my goodness this is sad. I have a box like that where I hold all of my fathers things.
