A canal called Harvey

The other day
we took a ride
to where the river meets

a ship canal
they call Harvey
someone had built a park

there was a time
or so they say
there was a Castle there

we came to talk
and talk we did
but nothing about That

we saw some birds
we spoke of them
but did not talk of That

we saw some kids
down by the rocks
they casted in their baits

we saw some boats
just passing by
observed their gentle wakes

we saw a game
played with a ball
but kept something inside

we came to get
away from That
and that's just what we did

a peacefull place
where we could sit
watch ships go slowly by

we can't forget
or leave behind
just speak of other things

to get away
from all of that
if only for a day

I am sure glad you have "a place" to displace and relax.  It's been one heck of a couple of years down there.

Nod.

This is a rare cool breeze as the heat is definitely on.

One of your best, Ralph! (You could do an entire series--the Harvey Plantation stories are fascinating!)

Much enjoyed Ralph. (Um, you are still gonna bring me the occasional rose, aren't you? *pout*)
