Yet Unable To Forgive

Your friendship was temperate,
and naught but a sigh,
like seasoned reminiscences sullied with indifference.

If only we’d known,
that our idealism was being shaped by the,

“hush-hush,”

that was unspoken truth.

Mayhap these black cypresses,
which guard our oppressive hearts,
would have instead bequeathed radiant cinders of naiveté.

But the sanguinity of,

“might have been,”

on hushed tremulous nights casts no,

“joie de vivre,”

no serenity,
other than the certitude given it by consciousness.

The channel wishful thinking treads when dreaming,
the grains of reconcilement hope would harrow if it could,
braid words into syllables and apologies unspoken.
And in the hour the cock crows there's heard,

“a groan,”

from this forlorn heart yet unable to forgive.

Forever In Your Heart

Forgiveness is really to help you, for you to let go of bitterness and anger, before it makes your heart hard. Holding it in, is never good, it creates more stress, less love, it robs you of life, of happiness.

Forgive and release yourself, so you can be free of all that weight tied around your heart. Then maybe you can love again, and feel again, and live a joyous life.

Take it from one who has been there....Life is too short, forgive now, while you have the chance.

Hugs~

Hello ARH thank-you for the advice. Honestly though this is just a poem and does not in any way reflect reality. I chose the words specifically to illicit an emotional response in the reader. The poetic vehicle though is merely hypothetical and was dredged from my past...from an event more than 10 years old. I can honestly say there is naught left within me which hurts from this injury.

EV it is good to read you again.  I have always found such depth in your words and always, so eloquently written that one can feel the poetry.     And I am glad to know this is not a current pain for you, too.

No more filling up my tomorrows

No more lookin' over my shoulder {T.Tritt}

Good morning! Yes, it is a good morning because our EV2 is back! I was pleased to read in your remarks that you are no longer harboring resentment for whoever did you wrong in the past. Your heart is too loving and pure to hold onto that kind of negativity. Forgiveness is a gift that we also give to ourself ~ as I am sure you have discovered.

I truly have missed your poetic offerings and your warm presence at pip.

Giving you a warm, welcome-back-home hug,

Linda

Come on now
unable or unwilling?

I guess some things are harder to forgive than others, but when all is done
I'm sure there's something
for which you wish
to be forgiven.

Unable or unwilling? Adagio obviously you missed my earlier statement which clearly stated that this is just a poem and does not in any way reflect reality. I chose the words specifically to illicit an emotional response in the reader. The poetic vehicle though is merely hypothetical and was dredged from my past...from an event more than 10 years old. I can honestly say there is naught left within me which hurts from this injury. Furthermore I would like to state I do not need to seek forgiveness for anything. There is nothing I regret. Yesterday is what it was, and although it does lend itself well to inspiration, most of my poetic works are merely anecdotes. Tales written from the perspective of the character I would create. Honestly I think people spend too much time trying to be dime store psychologists. Accept the piece for what it is...a well written narrative in which some might see their own stories and let it lie at that.
