It's 5:00 a.m.,
the dew is on the ground.

I hear the animals waiking,
they are scuttering around.

I walk the path to the stream,
thinking how lovely this place is.

I know what I want,
I want to fish.

No pole, just a branch, a line,
and my little hook.

Upon the top of the Beaver's home,
my spot I took.

Caught me a cricket,
put him on my line.

Caught my Rainbow Trout,
Oh my is this specimen fine.

I walked back to camp,
taking in all that I see.

And I know for certain,
that this is my Country.

I'm having trouble keying in a response because this honestly could have been my story! Been there ~ done that! Only I found a big, juicy earthworm under a rock and caught a less glamorous fish ~ a chub!

I love the stillness and purity of that hour ~ and of course I love to fish!

I feel as though I have found a kindred spirit in you, Dear Poetess!

Thank you for the reply. I have been a fisher-woman since I was 4. I have had the pleasure of fishing in about 13 different states across this wonderful country and have fond memories of them all. I am very much into seeing the beauty of nature and the simple things in this life. They are priceless to me.
