The starkness of life’s darkness
Is hidden not to see
Bare and cold, exposed and old
Is there as if to be

Naked to the whippings
Its skin is torn and bleeds
The holder of the silent tears
And victim of the needs

Around it walls, all filled with truth
The every inch so covered in
Secrets and confessions there
The thought abuse and place of sin

The floor has holes that seep escape
But not enough can fall
The beast grows ever more the vent
And sponge of no recall

But roof it has a pinhole prick
Where light of hope shines through
And though it’s small some darkness finds
A place to wander to

And by that light the dark conceives
And born is seed of hope
And through the mind a light does grow
To well expose each slope

And slowly does the beast not roar
And less we tend to hide
We find a way to not withdraw
While strength is by our side

And each day does become more sweet
And less weight fills the mind
Amazing when some hope shines through
How happiness we find

Rick,
It is obvious that you worked hard to come
forth with this poem...So many pieces to
our puzzle called life...yet that one word,
'hope'...gives us so much to live for.

MGROVES, I am not a church going person, but I am a person of faith, to say that I do believe in something, I pray, I hope and wish to witness a miracle, without these things I think we would all be in the dark dear friend, I am glad the sun comes up each day and its light hones in on us.
Have a great day.

Rick,
You are a pleasure to read.  Your meter,
cadence and rhyme are a delight...you
never fail to put together something that
is a joy.

Thanx,

Barry

I am not a church goer either, I also believe in believing in ourselves, But I have seen enough to believe in a god.I just dont believe you have to go to a church to to show your faith, beliefs,to pray. I am a very spiritual person.

But roof it has a pinhole prick
Where light of hope shines through
And though it’s small some darkness finds
A place to wander to

I don't know what inspired this... but clinical depression and I are weary companions... and this describes so well those beautiful moments when we at last start to find some distance from each other. *S* In deepest darkness, a pinhole prick of light can burn brightly as the sun. *S*

But enough ramble. *S* This is beautiful!!!

*S*, I really appreciated these comments from you, I think we all feel depression at times, hope is our light at the end of the tunnel so to speak, you found the true meaning within the words and that was just great, so thank you.
