What Can I Say To You

I call myself a writer
but silence is all you hear
I could lie
and promise you the moon
sweet pillow of night
and words are
just bloody tears
spilled on paper

you deserve better
than nothing

where is my breath
but in your lungs
and each beat
of your heart
is echo of my own
empty arms sleep
with you
in my night
and ancient hills
run red hot within
your name
my loneliness
is pierced by
its sound

what is it
that I can offer you
when empty
is all I own
kisses that are
fog close ground
can I fill you up
with hope
when others cross
my eggshell dreams
in rock feet

if you go
you hold no blame
you deserve better
I know you
couldn’t take the pain
too much being alone
lonely tears
between the rain

"no darkness has ever been deep enough to extinguish my personal knowledge of love"  Anne Rice

Poems like this are the reason why I've come back to PiP...poems like this, and people like you. I've missed both.

This is excellent poetry.  I liked this line a lot "where is my breath
but in your lungs".  It really stood out to me.  When I imagined that it was like... wow.

Peace. Love. Forgiveness.

Helen,
How fragile the strong can be. And LeeJ is right. Powerful write dear lady. Peace.

Helen

Passion just keeps on burning, white hot.  It is not empty, but full.

Lady, if that was "empty" then you own full too.

you've got more charisma in your punctuation than some have in their mammoth Novels.

I was going to highlight the same verse that Maureen did... it is particularly touching in this magnificent, powerful write!
