Between the Lines

Been thinking how long truth takes
to make the change to a restored heart.

How smothered thoughts play the notes
of a challenging tune with too much pause.

Sometimes chasing time takes me backwards
and I begin to have static cling

Contrasting moments that quiver the night's hold,
while stuck in the middle with a masquerade smile.

Today I am selfless, cradling the voice of tomorrow,
growing older... while living young.

M! That last stanza is just PERFECT.  And?  Lady are we ever having thoughts alike today. How long truth takes, indeed...sigh... Oh~ you.....

Good Morning, Donna.
School is finally out for me... now I have to figure out what to do with my time after I take a short visit to Tenn. to pick up my Mom and bring her back for a week. Been so used to getting up at 5 a.m. and not getting home until 5:30 p.m.
I hope you have a great summer!

Beautiful Maureen! I don't think my heart will ever be restored. No matter how long truth takes.

Hi Maureen

"growing older while living young"  When the air is warm, like now, and the sky seems limitless, I feel the same.  Lovely poem!

very fine, powerful, emotive, effective 'write'!

[wonderful 'read'!]

I especially LOVE:

"...stuck in the middle with a masquerade smile."
[kinda 'sums up' my (alleged) life!]

AND:

"...cradling the voice of tomorrow..."

sustained applause!!
