Can it Matter, Now?

Some past guest of some other life
genetically controlling parts of each we ~
are these, our limbs, oh, so truly free?
We wonder.

~*~

We found a road we thought
was true, and smiled into
warm eyes of wood’s hue
when some drunk then rearranged
the ever longest road and fell, we did,
with some mindless heft,
two fully de-arranged toads.

Near a year, or more
this we thought was “mine”
to choose to live, or mayhap be
we would dwell in brine,
and still some bubbles frothed on forth
and then another chose our course…

for we somehow filled another with
power, a new and fiercely forceful gain
and perhaps a moment’s brief
amen, and yes, even yes,
possibly, some pain,
but win or lose, somehow

with sane,
and that

is what we find in darkest brief
long night, when stress has left, forlorn
its soul, we nigh a’one have taken flight,
nor leave behind the course began,
for at the end, yes, no one ran.

Can it Matter? Yes, it shall,
whether anyone might believe,
we know, through thick, and then
through on some course
of  thin, we’ve run this road,
and each of us will ride this horse

called Marriage.

Karilea,

One of the most stunning poems I have read in quite a while...  It isn't often that a poem calls for me to read it more than three times, but this one has me hooked.  Perhaps, it is the subject Matter, the contemplation that went into its creation, or just the elegant flow of rhythm and sounds.  Before shelved, I think I'll take a couple of more reads.

Gorgeous poem full of the grace of marriage and reality.

luv and hugs,
misce'

Sighs. I'm so happy for you. Congrats to you both. I really love reading about abiding love and how people make it through the rough "rides," together.

I think my horse is dead. Dunno, I'm gettin' a bicycle with a basket and a bell.
