Looking For Mountains

I'm looking for mountains
and you are only miles of sea
that I've been drowning slowly in,
years play a tug of war with me.

Exhausted, but not defeated,
I wash up limp onto the shore,
I know that something has to change,
a challenge to show that life is more.

I’ve been to grassy hills and meadows,
walked wooded acres with quiet streams,
I've fallen into canyons and valleys
losing site of my many dreams.

I will remember each moment of beauty
and the way that weeping willows bow
after dancing with wind at dusk,
things that kept me then, but now...

I'm looking for mountains.

Loved this, Dixie!  The mountains may very well be "within" but somehow never big and imposing enough to satisfy so keep looking.

Dixie, put on those hiking boots and make it to the top of that mountain. The view is excellent from there. You Are Loved....

Dear Dixie, that is a beautiful poem my friend and the meaning is so clear, what we search must be over the horizon, as you, the mountains can not be seen and so the inner needs can not be met as yet. We shall keep searching my friend and one day down some hidden track the mountains we'll see and our joy will come back to you and to me.

Such fluid imagery in your poem Dix. Nice flow, great meter.  Enjoyed the style of your expression here.

Terrifc write my friend!

Don't remember the name, but wasn't it you a few years ago or so that wrote one about climbing to the top of a tree and reach to the sky, or God, or something similar??

I'd like to see that one again.  If you would email me when you post it as I'm only here sporatically anymore it seems and I'd don't want to miss it.

wow, does this bring back memories, I use to draw these mountains as a kid, then as a teen, and every now and then, i find myself, doodling them, always the same picture, mountains coming together,a big round object, behind them, a river flowing in front of them,    I also take alot of pictures of mountains,   interesting write, thanks for sharing, I have been thinking about those mountains lately also

Oh Dixie ... I just loved this. I enjoyed how you wove this all together, bringing it back to the mountains as a new quest in closing. Wonderful writing indeed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

and this would be exactly why God gave us mountains to climb. Although the pathways may be rocky, we DO indeed conquer them don't we?

Truly, an inspirational piece and I needed to come back to it today and breathe in the message it holds.

Hope...much hope indeed.  And where there is hope, there is always...tomorrow.

a most fine ‘write’!

I especially love:

“I will remember each moment of beauty
and the way that weeping willows bow
after dancing with wind at dusk…”

and:

“I've fallen into canyons and valleys
losing site of my many dreams.”

serious applause!!
