      Lost Highway

Only fog and memories
walk this road
that even Time forgot
as it quietly morphs
(reclaimed) to forest floor,
tunneled and framed
by ancient furtive oaks
and fleeting 'split-rail'
  remnants,
(of mans’ audacious follies
   and schemes to delimit Nature)
beckoning all to seek
its lonely, secret
  ‘vanishing point’
in the spectral Autumn mist.

They say that all returns to nature one day.  This absolutely beautiful poem speaks of this happening.  Your descriptiveness was wonderful.  I loved this poem.

Secondhanddreampoet,

Not bad.  Those split-rail fences brought back hard memories.  Locust works best. I don't want to think about it.

Secondhanddreampoet,

I love seeing the mist on the forest floor,
something magical about it, mystical,
vapors of the earth breathing...

Enjoyed your poem!

now this is really classic writing here...it really makes u think about those lonely roads that once new many people's hurried travels and now wait and remember and invite those who dare to revist the lost highways...loved it!
